Dental traumatology

Course Description

The Dental Traumatology Course is designed to provide an intensive and immersive learning experience for residents enrolled in the Kuwait Board of Endodontics and the Kuwait Board in Paediatric Dentistry. Over the span of one week, participants will engage in interactive lectures, hands-on workshops, case discussions, and clinical simulations, all led by experienced dental traumatology experts locally and internationally. The course will cover a wide range of topics, including etiology, diagnosis, treatment planning, and management of traumatic dental injuries in both children and adults. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based practices, interdisciplinary approaches, and the latest advancements in the field.

Goals and Objectives

  • To enhance participants' understanding of the aetiology and classification of traumatic dental injuries.
  • To familiarize participants with the clinical examination and diagnostic tools used in then assessment of dental trauma cases.
  • To provide participants with comprehensive knowledge of treatment modalities for various types of dental trauma, including avulsion, luxation, and crown and root fractures.
  • To develop participants' skills in treatment planning and decision-making processes for dental trauma cases, considering factors such as age, stage of dental development, and associated injuries.
  • To equip participants with proficiency in performing various treatment procedures related to dental trauma, including splinting, repositioning, endodontic management, and restorative techniques.
  • To emphasize the importance of timely intervention and follow-up care in maximizing the outcomes of dental trauma treatment.
  • To foster interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills among participants, facilitating cohesive management of complex dental trauma cases involving multiple specialties.
  • To encourage critical thinking and problem-solving abilities through case-based discussions, clinical simulations, and interactive workshops.
  • To stay updated with the latest research, guidelines, and advancements in the field of dental traumatology, ensuring evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
  • To provide a supportive learning environment where participants can exchange experiences, challenges, and best practices, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among future leaders in endodontics and paediatric dentistry in Kuwait.
